Salmon veggie mix

Gotta love glass mixing bowls
A free lazy day is the best gift the universe can give. Curl up with a good book, movie, plushie, whatever, RELAX!
BUT when it comes to food, lazy days sometimes come with greasy chip fingers or ketchup stained napkins. NO ONE wants to cook on a cold, rainy morning!
Save the gas driving to the nearest burger joint and hide your Cheetos.
My mother taught me how to make it a long time ago. She would get rid the mayo usually found in tuna or salmon salad  and mix in a lemon-oil dressing. This tangy snack won’t leave you heavy, bloated! It’s the perfect quick fix for fish lovers!

BONUS: You can use some ingredients from the salmon mix to create an EXTREMELY refreshing drink. I LOVE cucumber water. Keep reading!
Salmon

INGREDIENTS
Bumble Bee Lemon and Dill Pink Salmon Steak
-Found in any supermarket, you can also use tuna!
Half a lime
Cucumber
White/yellow onion
     -NOT RED! TOO STRONG
2 tsp Canola Oil
1 tsp white distilled vinegar
Salt
Pepper

TOOLS

Medium mixing bowl
Small mixing bowl
Small mixing bowl
Fork
Knife to cut veggies

1. Empty the contents of the bag of salmon into the big mixing bowl. The bag says to warm the salmon up but don’t it’s best if it’s eaten cold. DON’T WORRY it’s pre cooked! It’s optional to drain the water in the bag but personally I don’t because that’s what really contains the flavour.

2.Cut up the onions and cucumbers. Everyone’s preference varies so add as much or as little as you want. When you’ve finished, throw your veggies in with the salmon. Give it all a good mix up.

3.Take your small mixing bowl and add your oil. Squeeze some lemon and mix. This step is the hardest because if the ingredients involved and you must constantly taste test your mix to make sure it’s not to lemony or bland.
If it is too lemony for your taste add a little more oil.

4. Add the salt and pepper to the oil/lemon dressing. Again keep tasting it to see if it’s to your liking.

5. Once you’ve approved your dressing toss it in the big bowl of salmon. Give it another mix

6. Add the vinegar. Mix it up again. Taste

Now you have a tasty lunch or dinner in front of you and you didn't have to endure a squeaky bag of chips or buy some manly dripping burger to satisfy your taste buds!
OPTIONAL: if you want to turn this into a sandwich I recommend pita bread. Normal bread slices will get soggy.

BONUS!
Cucumber water is refreshing, tasty and so simple a caveman could do it!
Take a glass. Add water, as many cucumber slices as you want, ice, and an optional twist of lime.
I think it goes great with the salmon mix.
ENJOY!!

The Thickness

So today I discovered a WONDERFUL Tumblr account.

The Thickness!!

It is a tumblr dedicated to images of plus sized women, the majority of which are submitted by actual curvy girls.
Being a big girl and putting your body out there as something you are proud of is a huge leap seeing as how we're made to think there's something wrong with the way we look.
The women vary from the sorta curvy to ALOTTA woman, and they are all beautiful!

*WARNING* There is nudity! Top to bottom. Front to back, and some pornographic imagery. If that offends you, I wouldn't recommend it.
Personally, I think the lack of clothing is even better. The confidence of these women, whoever they are, absolutely warms my heart and makes my day better.

Mother-Daughter Part II

On boys:
Me: "Is that why I'm so boy crazy? I have a uterus?"
Mom: "mmmmhmmmm. But you'd be boy crazy at the drop of a hat"

On lime seeds in my drink:
Me: "I'll be able to feel them in my mout..."
Mom: " You'll ALWAYS be able to feel it in your mouth"
Me: "IT?"
Mom: "SORRY...them."

On showers:

Mom: "If we remove your tub would you rather have a stand up shower with water shooting from the walls?"
Me:"YEAH!"
Mom:"Ok we'll do that *walks away*"
Me: "WAIT....WHAT?!"

Designer Julien Macdonald says plus-size models are "a joke"

Erin Donnelly from Stylelist couldn't have said it any better:
"Sometimes fashion designers are better seen and not heard."

Julien Macdonald Is hoping that as a judge on "Britain's Next Top Model" he can be sure to sway any decision that may involve a plus -size model winning the title...but not in favor of the model.

This is a serious show. You can't have a plus-size girl winning...it makes it a joke. It's not fair on them... you're setting them up for a fall. I know what would happen to them. They are looked down on."
FIRST of all if I wanted advice from an aging hobbit, I'd take my ass to the shire where for sure they love a little curve on a lady.
It's people like him, Lagerfeld, and all the snot-nosed designers that have never thought outside of a size -1, that make people hate models and the fashion industry.
It's people like them that crawl like parasites out of the creases of magazines and shine their low self-esteem rays on poor men and women.
I'm a plus-size woman and I can tell you right now, I'm not looked down upon. I know ALOT of plus-sized people that are not looked down upon.
If anyone is looked down upon, it's assholes like this.
Don't EVER let jerks like this takeover the media and project their vibes on you.
Remember to always be stronger than the assholes on TV

Less jean for the price of two

Silver Jeans-Light Wash Tuesday
Bootcut Jeans
$92
So during Memorial Day weekend I was desperate for new jeans. All my old jeans are just fine...except they have huge holes and tears in the inner thigh area.
I'm not one to throw away jeans that can be patched up but I had no time so I ventured to my mecca (Torrid) and purchased three pairs of pants.

NOW To your right you will see my most hated style of jean EVER. Silver Jeans brand. Manufactured rips and tears, what were they thinking?

As I write this blog, I'm wearing those jeans right...now.

I'm so picky. The jeans I buy must always have some sort of flare leg or they must be in the style of capris. There were two flare style jeans in the entire store and I was desperate.

$92 for missing material. Price is not a problem but I had to question why my father was paying more for less.
Apparently the denim used by Silver Jeans is the same denim used by cowboys so it is tougher. I must say that before I asked the question I did feel that the material was a little stronger than normal.

I feel very little affection towards these pants and so I have christened them my "home jeans"

On the bright side, my other two purchases are from my fave brand Source of Wisdom.

I can't find the jeans on the site but what's better than a picture of me rockin' them?

Source of Wisdom jeans are known for their stretch/hug-to-your-hips technology. they are the ultimate in comfort, but the one flaw...fake side pockets!
I don't know why designers insist on fake pockets in women's clothing ut that's another blog for another time.

In the end, two out of three wasn't too bad.

Eat Less.....who says?!?

Oh Urban Outfitters what have you done?
Known for its lack of sensitivity to the politically correct public, The major retailer has pulled the tee after the blogosphere erupted accusing UO of promoting or making fun of anorexia.

If it was meant to be sarcasm...well...then that's super nice handwriting at least.

Now maybe I'm over thinking but the first thing that I thunk was that they said "screw subliminal messaging let's tell them that skinny is the way!"

What do you think?

Why a mother should be close to her daughter

So I always quote my mother online (probably a little more that she'd alike and definitely alot more than she knows hah!) here are a few:

 On Phil Jackson (haha):
Me:"He's losing his hair"
Mom:"YOU be a coach for the Lakers and see if you don't lose your hair!"

On Math
Me:"This is a generation raised on scientific calculators, you think we know how to count!?"

On Apple's phone support
Me:"It's a robot that understands me!"

Mom:"Finally something understands you."
On Milla Jovovich in The Fifth Element

Mom: "I liked her better when she couldn't speak English. Here's she's like 'mew mew mew mew I speak English wee wee."

Meeting her friends at 8 a.m
."Mom:"Are you going to wear make up?"
Me:"Not doing that this early for people I don't know.
